Critical Languages Training Stipends

The Center for the Study of Critical Languages at William Paterson University promotes the teaching and learning of languages of critical need.

The Center proudly announces a competition for Critical Language Training Stipends, designed to encourage proficiency and enrollment in these languages.

To apply for a language training incentive award, students must be currently enrolled in an intermediate or advanced level course (210, 211, 221, 222, 223 or higher level taught in the target language).

Submit the following materials before March 6th, 2009:

• A 250-word letter describing interest and personal goals in studying the language. At the top of the letter include class name and number, major, 855 student ID, and updated contact information.

•A letter of recommendation from a previous language instructor

Students awarded a language training incentive award must have a minimum average of B (3.0) in previous language courses.

Award recipients will be announced by March 16th, 2009.

JET Program (Japan)
The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program seeks to help enhance internationalization in Japan by promoting mutual understanding between Japan and other nations. The program also aims to improve foreign language education in Japan and to encourage international exchange at the local level by fostering ties between Japanese youth and foreign youth.
