Completion of an appropriate academic major in the Subject Field Area. An undergraduate cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher on a 4.00 scale Pass the Praxis Core exam. Pass the Praxis Subject Assessment (formerly the Praxis II) exam in the certification content area. A passing score on an essay that requires the candidate to describe her/his reasons for wishing to complete the program and educational philosophy. Two letters of recommendation from educational, professional or business sources. Interview with the Program Coordinator. Requirements to be met before completion of program: Become a member of content area Specialized Professional Association (SPA). Completion of physiology and hygiene requirement. Pass the Praxis II exam in the certification content area. Maintain a B (3.0) or better GPA. Note that you must apply for Practicum (CISE 5300) and Student Teaching through the Office of Field Experiences 1 year in advance.
