Elementary and Early Childhood Education Home

The Department of Elementary & Early Childhood Education's mission is to prepare inquiring and reflective educators to teach in diverse settings at the pre-school through grade eight levels in the public schools of New Jersey. Undergraduate and graduate programs are offered to students who are pursuing elementary/early childhood education as a profession and to certified teachers who want to enhance their professional development and practice through graduate study.

Attention Teacher Education Candidates:

The required PRAXIS Subject Assessments (formerly the Praxis II) test(s) must be taken and passed prior to student teaching.
For more detailed information regarding the PRAXIS, please click here.

Beginning in the fall of 2014, a 3.0 cumulative GPA is required to enter all education majors and to begin taking education couses. In addition, all majors must pass the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators exams (#5751) before taking education courses.
