ESL Endorsement

This program is designed for certified teachers seeking an endorsement as a teacher of English as a Second Language.

Entry Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A Standard New Jersey teaching certificate or a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing in a content area
  • An overall undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.

Exit Requirements
  • Passing scores on the Language Proficiency Interview Tests in English is required in order for students to receive their endorsement certification from the State of New Jersey. (The Department of Languages and Cultures offers the tests every spring and fall semester. Please contact the program director or the language coordinator(s) for testing dates and procedures.)
  • Successful completion of curriculum.
