Matriculation Requirements

Only students, who have passed the College of Education mandatory entry requirements: speech, language and hearing screening, Praxis Core for Educators (5751), have 60 credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, may take education courses.  

Post Baccalaureate and M.A.T. students need to confer with their program director (or Graduate Admissions) regarding further matriculation/acceptance requirements.

If you wish to take all three computer-delivered Core Academic Skills for Educators exams (5712, 5722, 5732) at the same time, select Core Academic Skills for Educators Combined Test (5751) when registering. Scores will be reported by individual test (5712, 5722, 5732).  

Currently, you may be eligible to have the CORE requirement waived if you have scored high enough on the SAT (Reading and Math), depending on the year you took the exam.  SAT scores with test dates prior to 2007 cannot be considered.  ACT scores of 23 (Reading and Math) from 2007 to present will qualify.  2011-present 310 (verbal and math composite) and 4 (writing).  Please contact Susan Burns at if you believe you qualify for this waiver.

You must register on line for this screening using the link below.  Please be sure to keep your appointment as space is limited. If you are able to attend your scheduled appointment or if you have problems registering for the speech, language and hearing screening online, please contact Susan Burns at 973-720-2139.  Please report to the Speech and hearing clinic in Hunziker Wing 7C for on the day and time of your appointment.
