Schedule of Events - Fall 2004 Calendar

PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:

The Christos M. Cotsakos College of Business undergraduate programs are guided by a framework that includes the professional enhancement, readiness, and awareness of our student body.  As such, the Professional Enrichment Program provides opportunities for our students to meet and network with area specialists, hear business leaders speak, become involved in work-related activities such as internships, practicum, and job shadowing; and attend various seminars and forums that deal with professional development and/or contemporary work related issues.

Requirements:
All CCOB students are required to complete the professional enrichment component of their educational experience prior to graduation; students must earn professional enrichment points as they progress through their business program towards graduation.

Accumulated points are utilized in partial fulfillment of the course requirements for MGT460 (Business Strategy and Policy), which is a required course for all undergraduate business administration and accounting majors. Specifically, ten percent of the grade earned in this course is a function of the number of enrichment points earned: four points (eight activities) are required to earn full credit. Less than four points results in partial credit being granted. Several additional courses have a “per semester” point requirement; please check with your CCOB faculty member.  Students should actively begin accumulating points upon acceptance into their undergraduate CCOB program.

Earning Enrichment Points:
Students earn enrichment points through their involvement in supporting activities. Numerous events are sponsored by the CCOB, or co-sponsored with our partners (please see last page). Material participation in a CCOB-sponsored club and attendance at a professional association meeting/conference/seminar also qualify (a maximum of one full enrichment point may be earned for activities outside of the University). Please send an e-mail to: pe@wpunj.edu for information regarding documentation/substantiation requirements to receive points for these activities. All enrichment activities earn one-half of one full enrichment point unless noted otherwise.

Students must bring their University identification card (ID) to any enrichment activity they attend. The ID card is collected and will be scanned during the first ten minutes of an activity, and returned to the student upon completion of the workshop. Failure to bring the ID card or coming more than 10 minutes late to a workshop will result in no enrichment point credit for the activity.

Policy Addendum:  Students without ID cards can now receive credit if they sign in at the workshop and complete an attendance record (name, ID#, name of workshop, speaker(s), and a 200-word summary of what was learned at the activity).  The attendance record must be submitted electronically in a Microsoft Word document to pe@wpunj.edu within five calendar days of the date of the activity.

Enrichment points are entered into a database for the purpose of monitoring the number of points earned.  The database is provided to all CCOB faculty members at the end of each semester.
