Seminar. Foreign language may be waived based on placement examination
scores, with upper level general education elective coursework and/or WPC

PROFESSIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:
What
is professional enrichment?
The College of Business undergraduate programs are guided by a framework that includes, among other things, the professional enhancement, readiness, and awareness of our student body. As such, the professional enrichment initiative encourages the provision of opportunities for our students to meet and network with area specialists, hear business leaders speak, become involved in work related activities such as internships, practicum, and job shadowing, and attend various seminars and forums that deal with their professional development and/or contemporary work related issues.
What
is required in order to meet the professional enrichment expectations?
While attendance of Professional Enrichment activities is not required for graduation, all College of Business majors are strongly encouraged to attend Professional Enrichment events. Bonus points may be awarded for attendance at such events or it may be part of the final grade for certain courses. Contact your instructor for more information.
How
are enrichment points earned?
Students earn enrichment points through their involvement in supporting College of Business sponsored and co-sponsored activities and include, but are not limited to participation in:

“Careers” workshops,
•
The business leaders, finance, or related large scale symposiums,
•
Small group workshops and forums, such as the stress management or resume
writing seminars.
•
The “job shadowing” program, where a student meets with a chosen business
leader, on-site, and “shadows” the business leader at the workplace for
one day. This provides the student with an inside glimpse of what
the profession of choice entails, and an opportunity to spend one day in
the company of a senior management professional in the workplace.
Students
should always bring their University identification card (ID) to any enrichment
activity they attend. The ID card will be scanned, and enrichment
points entered into a database, for the purpose of monitoring the number
of points earned. Failure to bring the ID card will result
in no enrichment point credit for the activity.
CCOB
CREDIT-EARNING ENRICHMENT WORKING OPPORTUNITES:
As alternative
learning experiences, CCOB students are encouraged to explore credit worthy
internship and practicum opportunities, which may be utilized as upper
level CCOB directed elective coursework upon the approval of the sponsoring
department Chairperson and the Dean. Internships are individualized structured
work experiences where a student is placed in an organization for the purpose
of working under a supervisor and gaining hands-on experience in the area
of interest. Alternatively, a practicum is a guided work experience conducted
within a group framework, where groups provide consultation to small businesses,
under the mentorship of a faculty sponsor. Additional information may be
obtained from any CCOB office.
