Down by the Station, Early in the Morning is a setting for baritone
or tenor voice, clarinet, and piano of John Ashbery's poem of the same
name. In the score I wanted the instruments to dramatize the
concerns of memory and loss so beautifully and poignantly
expressed in the poem.
