Tuesday, September 15 - Albert Regni, saxophone and Allen Farnham, piano Saxophonist Albert Regni has had a nearly 50-year career including dozens of recordings and world tours with the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera Orchestras. He has also been featured with orchestras of Leningrad, Los Angeles, Rotterdam, Israel and the National Symphony at the Kennedy Center, as well as winning a grammy for his solos for the TV series Twin Peaks. This program will feature a mix of contemporary solo works and jazz-oriented concert pieces. September 24 - Eric Ross, composer and master of the Theremin Mary Ross, fine art photographer and visual artist Composer Eric Ross, with video artist Mary Ross (USA), present their Ultimedia Concept – Music from the Future – live at WPUNJ on Sept.24. Eric Ross performs on piano, guitar and synthesizer and is a Master of the Theremin, one of the first electronic instruments. Eric's compositions include elements of jazz, classic, serial, and avant garde. Mary's videos, projected in performance, are organized, arranged and edited to his music. In an hour-long performance, The Rosses will present their most recent work, the Boulevard Reconstructie (Op.54). October 1 - The Bill Charlap Trio, with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington Pianist Bill Charlap, newly appointed as William Paterson's Director of Jazz Studies, brings his world-renowned trio to the Midday stage. This group has been playing the world's concert stages, jazz clubs and major festivals for nearly 20 years, and is considered to be one of the world's premiere jazz groups because of the trio's longevity, and the reputation of each of its members. Bill Charlap has had a long career starting in the bands of legendary saxophonists Gerry Mulligan and Phil Woods, and going on to be a major solo artist. This trio is featured with singer Tony Bennett in a much-anticipated new CD of Jerome Kern's songs, and they have a new trio recording due this spring. Peter and Kenny Washington (no relation) have been among the most in-demand accompanists in jazz for two decades. October 8 - Valerie Coleman, flutist Flutist, composer and founder of Imani Winds, Valerie Coleman brings her creative force and collaborations to the stage for Tamaduni y Leyendas, a soul-stirring and eclectic concert celebration of vibrant “cultures and legends." Along with the music of Bartok and Debussy, the program features a contemporary selection including her own works, a world premiere of “Xango and Oya” by composer Jeff Scott and a selection from Sonata Latina by Mike Mower. Guest Artists to include members from Imani Winds. October 15 - Branan Dubh and Payton MacDonald, classical Dhrupad singers Australian born, of Celtic ancestry, Branan Dubh has followed a lifetime passion for Indian music and culture. Payton MacDonald is a Dhrupad singer, and also has a parallel career as a Western percussionist and composer. October 22 - Joe Kimura, cello and Gary Kirkpatrick, piano Joseph Kimura, a graduate of The Juilliard School, will be performing romantic cello works by Johannes Brahms and David Popper in collaboration with pianist Gary Kirkpatrick. Mr. Kimura has been on the William Paterson University music faculty for the past four years.
