About our Guest Performers
California based guitarist/composer Eric Henderson studied with Andres Segovia in Spain and developed a gift for the classical guitar. He also studied with the great composer Federico Moreno Torroba. At the same time, he was listening to and absorbing the music and techniques of great electric guitarists such as Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix. He has performed concerts throughout Europe and the United States. As his career progressed, his focus shifted to writing and performing original compositions. His mission now is to reinvigorate and grow the audience for the concert guitar, playing as a virtuoso with the ability to transcend all boundaries of style.
At William Paterson University Guitarfest 2012, Mr. Henderson will present a program including his own original pieces, favorites by Tárrega, Torroba and Granados, and arrangements of music by the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and more.
Paul Meyers has performed and/or recorded with an ever-growing list af jazz greats such as Geri Allen, Kenny Barron, Ron Carter, Ray Drummond, Eliane Elias, Clare Fischer, Sonny Fortune, Eddie Gomez, Annie Ross, Marc Johnson, Wynton Marsalis, George Mraz, Rufus Reid, David Sanchez and Kenny Werner. He's also toured for years with two of the greatest jazz singers ever - Jon Hendricks since 1993, and Andy Bey from 1997 to 2008.
International performances include Japan and Hong Kong with the Salute to Duke Ellington Orchestra (along with Bob Brookmeyer, Mel Lewis and Joe Wilder) - Spain with the great percussionist Cafe - France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy with Jon Hendricks - Brazil, England, Macedonia, Greece and the Netherlands with Andy Bey - Japan with Karrin Allison, and Argentina with Gary Burton. Mr. Burton also recorded Paul's tune Panama on his "Reunion" CD with Pat Metheny.
We at William Paterson University Guitarfest are proud to acknowledge Paul Meyers as an esteemed member of the jazz department faculty at William Paterson University.
