Steps to Apply Now!

First:

You should have already applied to William Paterson University. If you haven’t please do so HERE.

Second:

You should have received an email with instructions for applying to the Department of Music at William Paterson University.

Third:

Check out our audition requirements.

Fourth:

Complete a Music Department Application on Slideroom. There you will upload the following materials:

  • An essay, approximately 300 words, describing your personal, artistic, and career goals (Word or PDF only).
  • A list of major solo material and repertoire studied during the past three years (Word or PDF only).
  • Two names and emails of references. One reference must be a music educator or studio teacher.
  • You will then complete an online theory test.

Fifth:

You will receive a confirmation email with information upon receipt of your music department application. You will receive specific information about your audition about a week prior to your selected audition date.

Sixth:

Come to campus for a live audition, interview, and placement tests (if applicable).

International Students:

Please go to the website for the Office of International Students and Scholars for additional requirements. Please send all completed documentation to the Office of International Students and Scholars.

Important Dates:

For all classical degree programs the deadlines for submission of Music Department applications are:
April 1 for admittance into Fall semester
November 1 for admittance into Spring semester

For priority academic, Cotsakos awards, and music talent scholarship consideration, all application materials must be submitted by February 1.

For Cotsakos Awards, the last possible live audition date is February 23, 2018.
