Steps to Apply Now!

First:

You should have already applied to William Paterson University. If you haven’t please do so HERE.

Second:

You should have received an email with instructions for applying to the Department of Music at William Paterson University which includes your Student ID#.

Third:

Check out our audition requirements.

Fourth:

Log into Slideroom to complete the Music Department Application. Here you will upload your recorded audition and the following materials:

  • An essay, approximately 300 words, describing your personal, artistic, and career goals (Word or PDF only).
  • A list of major solo material and repertoire studied during the past three years (Word or PDF only).
  • Names and email addresses of two references who can describe your character and abilities. One reference must be a music educator or studio teacher. They will then be contacted by the Department of Music.
  • You will have to complete an online theory test.
Fifth:

You will receive an email with information regarding the audition will be sent to you upon receipt of your music department application.

Sixth:

Come to campus for a live audition, interview, and placement tests (if applicable).

International Students:

Please go to the website for the Office of International Students and Scholars for additional requirements. Please send all completed documentation to the Office of International Students and Scholars.

Important Dates:

For all classical degree programs the deadlines for submission of Music Department applications are:
April 1, 2015 for admittance into Fall semester
October 27, 2015 for admittance into Spring semester

All application materials must be submitted by February 1, 2015 for priority academic and Cotsakos awards. For Cotsakos Awards, the last possible live audition date is February 27, 2015.
