Internship Profiles

Internship experience is essential in today's competitive job market.  We help Communication students identify and secure meaningful internships at corporations, television networks, sports teams, entertainment venues and public relations firms.  Below are a few snapshots from our pool of more than 50 students who intern each semester.



Rebecca Lindsay '13, Media Production , WABC-TV
Lindsay is an intern for WABC where she observes the Live! with Kelly and Michael show from inside the control room and studio. In addition, she assists with ingesting tapes into the servers and digitizing/organizing documents for FCC purposes.



Senka Andric '13, Public Relations, Launchpad Advertising
The Launchpad Advertising internship was the icing on the cake for WPU international student Senka Andric. Her responsibilities included: conducting competitive research, creating road maps, handling Tweets and Facebook updates and attending conference calls. Andric also worked with account team members in developing and executing business strategies for major clients.



Chike J. Onyenso '13, Double Major: Theatre & Comedy/Broadcast Journalism , Sirius XM Radio
Onyenso assists in the programming for the comedy department. His tasks include: editing and adding cue fades to aired comedy bits, logging promos for comedians' upcoming shows, transcribing interviews and handling caller lines for Raw Dog's Comedy by Request daily show. He also posts material for Sirius XM Comedy's social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter.



Ryan Barckley '13, Broadcast Journalism, The Colbert Report
As an intern at The Colbert Report, Barckley helps buy and build props, watch rehearsal, review footage, check in audience members, and do anything else that might be needed. The Colbert Report is a late night television program that comments on political issues.



Brian Deoleo '13, Public Relations, Egami Consulting
Interning with Egami Consulting provided Brian Deoleo with hands on experience in the multicultural industry. Deoleo was responsible for handling social media, researching new business, assisting with current campaigns and basic office duties.



Lauren Cucci '12, Theater & Comedy, The Rachael Ray Show
Cucci is a hands-on art department intern for the extremely fast paced Rachael Ray Show. While interning, Cucci has honed her art skills painting, developing, and dressing new sets.

Kaitlyn Fischer '12, Media Production, The Syndicate

As an intern at The Syndicate – a music and entertainment marketing agency – Fischer publishes daily articles on Taco Bell’s Feed the Beat website, which helps to promote and market independent artists.

Jennifer Velez '12, Journalism, OK! Magazine

 A web intern for OK! Magazine, Velez’s work has appeared on Her chief responsibilities included: creating photo galleries, editing photo captions, pitching stories, and writing articles and celebrity bios.


Miguel Macias '13,  Major: Public Relations/ Minor: Media StudiesKCSA Strategic Communications
KSCA Strategic Communications social media intern, Miguel Macias, is an integral part of the marketing team conducting client research and developing a fan base for an array of KSCA clients on Twitter and Facebook, by drafting Tweets and Facebook posts for clients pages. 


Daniel IrahetaMedia ProductionTelemundo 47 

Media Production major, Daniel Iraheta, writes articles, which are published on, and he works closely with the assignment editors to assist in collecting news and assigning reporters to daily events. As a native Spanish speaker, Iraheta believes his work with Telemundo is the best way to get close to his community.

Nicole Rosado '12, Broadcast Journalism, MTV Network

Nicole Rosado learned that you must work hard to show your dedication to a job as an MTV news production intern. During her position, Rosado helped to set up and break down sets for a variety of shows, she wrote articles for that appealed to the company’s readers, and conducted interviews with several celebrities.

Kate Szabo '12, Media Production, WPLJ 95.5

Szabo learned the ins and outs about a New York City radio station during her time as an intern at WPLJ 95.5. Whether Szabo was shadowing Race Taylor, – the station’s afternoon DJ – assembling prize bags for events, or calling prize winners, she gained valuable experience and a wealth of knowledge during her time at WPLJ.

Gurmit Singh '13,  Interpersonal CommunicationJulie Melillo Life Coaching

Applying his learning from classes taken at William Paterson, to his internship at Julie Melillo Life Coaching has proven to be valuable for Gurmit Singh. Each day is an opportunity for Singh to hone his communication skills with tasks that involve the use of social media as a marketing and recruiting tool, research, and writing articles.  


Jazymn Gillard '12, Media ProductionSirius XM Radio

No day is the same for second-time intern at Sirius XM radio, Jazymn Gillard. One day her task can involve uploading music into the station’s system, and the next day she will be asked to produce a show with a major artist. For Gillard, there is no greater accomplishment than her achievements at Sirius.

Mark Steinmetz ‘13, Media Production, New York Football Giants

Working with Super Bowl XLVI champions has been the highlight of Mark Steinmetz internship with the New York Football Giants. As a production intern, Steinmetz’s responsibilities include: set changes, shooting, editing, logging, recording, camera running, audio, and transcribing. 

Joseph Myerjack '13, Public RelationsNew Jersey Devils Social Media and Marketing Intern

Everyday Joseph Myerjack works to create memories for New Jersey Devils fans as a social media marketing intern. Through this experience Myerjack has expanded the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center’s Facebook and Twitter pages. His internship has helped to increase his knowledge of various online marketing strategies.



Jessica Porter '12, Public RelationsGoddess by Juanita Kelly

Jessica Porter’s hands on experience at Goddess by Juanita Kelly – a clothing line designed exclusively for plus size women – allowed her to “do, not just watch.” An intern for Goddess’s monthly magazine, Porter’s responsibilities included: editing articles and manuscripts, and helping out the public relations department with brainstorming and research.
