The M.A. in Professional Communication offers a structured two-track program of study designed to give graduates a unique combination of skill sets for their professional development in the industry.
This customizable two-year program is well suited for recent grads and working professionals seeking to achieve success in an array of communication fields including:
- digital and social media
- public relations management
- integrated marketing communication
- corporate and strategic communication
- professional writing
Students may specialize in either Corporate & Strategic Communication or Digital Media & Professional Writing, with the option of integrating courses from both tracks to achieve a personalized education. Four core courses essential for career success and a variety of electives both within and outside the department complete the program.
Note: by advisement, students may be allowed to take a maximum of no more than six credits outside of the M.A. in Professional Communication program to partially fulfill their Electives requirements. Approval is not automatic and requires a formal application and review process.
Currently we have a mix of full-time (9 credits) and part-time (3-6 credits) students in the program. Students are encouraged to make an appointment with their advisor to discuss class schedules, and the subject and form of their master project. When scheduling, note that Research Methods must be taken the semester before Master Project.
Students must complete 30 credits to graduate. Unless otherwise noted, all courses are 3 credits.
