Expert roundtable sponsored by Professional Communication graduate program was successfully held at William Paterson University on June 19, 2012.  

Topics included new digital media trends, social media tactics as well as effective career networking strategies. 

Our faculty members shared their expertise on digital/social media and ProComm alumni discussed how ProComm graduate program has helped them succeed in their career and academic development.

The Communication Department was proud to participate in the ceremony and proud of the graduating MaProCom students who worked so hard to complete this program. Cathleen Lewis 

           

Cathleen M. Lewis is currently  Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations  at AAA New Jersey Automobile Club.

She has also served as Senior Public Information Officer, and Legislative Liaison at NJ Motor Vehicle Commission representing the MVC to members of the State Senate and Assembly during Governor Corzine's Administration.

          Melissa Bass is a specialist in social media policy and digital communication. She serves as an adjunct professor in digital media and public relations for William Paterson University.  She also works full-time in the corporate communication department at Wyndham Worldwide where she manages digital communication and is responsible for the development of strategy, oversight and management of content and analytics for all corporate online properties including consumer and employee facing sites, as well as social media. Prior to this, she held numerous positions in social media and corporate communication with companies including Toys"R"Us and Sony Corporation of America. She holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in communication from Rowan University.

Dr. E. Michael Harrington is a consultant in music copyright/IP, social media and technology issues.   He has worked as expert witness in hundreds of music copyright infringement matters involving artists such as the Dixie Chicks, Woody Guthrie, Steve Perry, Collin Raye, Tupac Shakur, George Clinton,  DJ Danger Mouse, Patty Loveless and others.  He has delivered more than 150 lectures to law schools, organizations and universities throughout North America including Harvard Law, the Texas Bar, Boston Bar, Montreal Pop, the European Film Commission, IBS, CMA and others.

Warren Buffet holds Q & A with select William Paterson students in attendance
William Paterson graduate students from Communication and Business visited with Warren Buffet in Omaha on Jan. 13. Following a 2-hour long question and answer session, Mr. Buffett took everyone to lunch.  Two WP students, Steve Parsons and Nicholas Bowman even got the chance to ride to lunch with Mr. Buffett in his car. The trip was an event  hosted by Warren Buffett in which six universities were invited to participate.
