The Visual Resources Collection (VRC) supports the Art Department's curricular teaching needs of William Paterson University with images of art and architectural content.

Since 2006, the VRC has been developing a digital image collection to support instruction and research with a focus on art and architecture content. In addition to images created by VRC staff or acquired through vendors, Cheng Library subscribes to ARTstor, a database of 750,000 images, associated records, and viewing tools.

The slide collection now includes approximately 60,000 slides. The digital collection now contains appoximately 12,000 files. These two collections contain an extensive range of architectural monuments and buildings, paintings, photography, and sculptures. These images are primarily used for classroom discussions with the emphasis on art history.
