I.Students accepted as a major in the Communication Department as of September 2008 or later must declare a major upon acceptance into the Communication Department. To declare a major a student must fill out a form available in the Advisement Center. The four majors are listed below.

II. Students accepted as a major in the Communication Department effective September 2006 must declare a concentration area upon acceptance into the Communication Department. To declare a concentration a student must fill out a form available in the Advisement Center. The six concentrations are listed below. Please follow the links for a list of requirements for each concentration.

III. Students who are already accepted Communication majors prior to FALL 2006, do not have to declare a concentration. Click here for a list of requirements for students entering prior to Fall 2006. See a complete list of course offerings.
All Communication Majors must take the following six core classes: (18 credits)
COMM 120 Mass Communication
COMM 121 Communication Theory
COMM 210 Media Writing (prerequisite English 110)
COMM 244 Communication Research (prerequisite COMM 121)
COMM 263 Public Speaking
COMM 445 Capstone (prerequisite COMM 244 + concentration specified courses)
