Gary Nazare '82

Gary NazareGary Nazare ’82 (BA, Accounting) is the Head of Issuer and Loan Servicing Operations. In this capacity, he manages over 2000 professionals in 25 global operating centers. His teams deliver a broad array of processing services for the Corporate Trust, Depositary Receipt, and Loan Administration businesses. He is responsible for daily process execution as well as developing strategic initiatives to optimize the service models, strengthen client loyalty, and enhance employee engagement.

Gary’s securities processing experience dates to 1986. While at JPMorgan, he held the position of CFO for Cash Management and Securities Processing Products. He joined BNY in 1996, in connection with the acquisition of JPM’s custody business. In 1998 he assumed significant operational responsibilities in the Transfer Agency division, and in 2003 became the CEO of the Shareowner Services business.

As CEO, Gary’s accomplishments included the delivery of solid business and profitability growth, strategic planning, as well as acquisition and divestiture transactions. He was an industry leader in the establishment of global Client Advisory Councils. His unwavering focus on service quality earned the industry’s recognition as “Best in Class” Transfer Agency provider for four consecutive years.

Following BNY’s merger with Mellon, Gary was appointed as COO for Alternative Investment Services, responsible for the global service delivery of hedge fund administration. His accomplishments include strategic restructuring of the business model as well as overall growth. Prior to his current role, he had leadership responsibility for the Global Risk Solutions, Client Accounting & Reporting, and Benefits Disbursements divisions of the Asset Servicing business.

During his tenure, Gary headed business compliance and governance committees, was a member of enterprise-wide committees, including the Technology & Major Expenditure Teams, and served as an executive committee member on the industry-sponsored Stock Transfer Association. He is currently a member of BNYM’s Operating Committee and serves as a Board member & Chair of the Fiduciary Audit Committee of an affiliated BNYM entity.

While at William Paterson University, Gary was a four-year varsity member of Pioneer Football and served as team captain in his junior and senior years. He earned All-League recognition as a defensive back. Gary worked on campus to fund his college education. He continues to support the success of WP as a mentor for the Pesce Family Mentoring Institute and as a guest speaker.
