Career prospects for Management students are broad and varied, and offer a great deal of flexibility and value in the highly competitive and globalized business job market. Cotsakos College of Business management majors are employed by both profit and non-profit organizations, and perform well in a variety of organizational positions, in both the manufacturing and service sectors. They have the knowledge and the skill set needed to successfully launch innovative ideas, effectively support strategic moves, and efficiently manage the operations of any organization. They typically hold positions in strategic planning, tactical implementation of plans, human resources planning and management, production and operations management, quality management, project planning and control, decision making, information and knowledge management, management consulting, and general management and supervision in a variety of industries.
Most Marketing students typically begin their careers in sales or retailing positions and move up into higher level positions in functional areas described below. Cotsakos College of Business marketing majors are employed in a variety of industries including retailing, direct marketing, advertising, financial services, marketing research, and electronic commerce. The non-profit sector, which includes charities, art groups, and NGOs, is another rich source of career opportunities. On average, 5-7 years of experience provides opportunities in marketing / brand / product management, sales management, advertising, and public relations, among others. Marketing managers typically oversee several departments, directing pricing, promotion, and distribution strategies. Brand / product managers have overall responsibility for specific brands / products, while sales managers recruit, train, and establish targets for their sales forces. Advertising managers establish and maintain key customer accounts.
