America Reads
The America Reads Challenge is a grassroots call to action by President Clinton. This unprecedented national campaign challenges every American to help all our children learn to read, including those with disabilities and limited English proficiency. The Challenge touches citizens from all walks of life and sparks collaborations between educators, parents, librarians, business people, senior citizens, college students, and community and religious groups.
Community Service
Community Service is part of Off-Campus Federal Work Study where students work for non-profit agencies and are paid through the University. Students employed through Community Service not only provide essential services to the community but also have an opportunity to secure positions which may relate to their educational objectives.
Part-time / Full-time
The Career Development Center provides students with both part-time and full-time employment opportunities. Available job postings are accessible via eRecruiting, an Internet based job listing service. Job matching and referral services are also available through eRecruiting.
Internships
William Paterson has experienced successful partnerships with employers by providing them with quality interns. Throughout the years many internships have resulted in full-time hires, benefiting the student and employers. As we continue to grow as a university, we look forward to enhancing these relationships and expanding our Internship Program. What is an internship? Frequently referred to as internships, cooperative education or field work, an internship is the opportunity to earn academic credits while gaining professional work experience in a field of interest without making a long-term commitment to one career. Internships allow students to learn by taking on responsible roles as workers and to observe and reflect on what happens while at their assignment sites.
On-Campus Recruiting Program for Future Educators
Let the Career Development Center give you a jump start ahead of the competition. During the spring semester you will have the opportunity to take your first interview on-campus. Take some of the fear out of going on interviews. We will develop the job leads, critique your resume and give you key interviewing pointers.
A list of school districts will be made available in January. It will include the employer's name, position openings, and the recruiting date. Employers are invited to campus during the months of April and May. They will pre-screen your resume and select the candidates they would like to interview on-campus.
