RE:                   Addition and Renovation of Morrison and Raubinger Halls

The 2003 William Paterson University Facilities Master Plan identified an opportunity “to consolidate as much as possible, the administrative and student support functions of a Campus Information/Welcome Center, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, and Admissions into one location”.  The plan identified Morrison Hall as the building most capable of providing a new student “front door” and centralizing enrollment management services into a “one-stop” location. The new Visitor Information Center would include a new lobby addition facing the visitors parking area for perspective students and their families.

In 2009, the University engaged the architectural firm of Fletcher Thompson to design a plan for Morrison that would accomplish the goals of the Facilities Master Plan.  In order to satisfy the logistical requirements and take advantage of additional opportunities, several academic service departments were incorporated into the overall project. Fletcher Thompson’s final design includes a lobby addition to Morrison Hall, with renovations to both floors.  Additionally, select areas will be renovated on all four levels of Raubinger Hall, including the entrance lobby.  Security and wireless improvements are planned as well.  The Visitor Lot will be expanded to approximately double its current capacity.

Construction on this project recently commenced. The project will occur in 2 phases for Morrison and 3 phases in Raubinger over the next 18 months and result in the repositioning of approximately 150 employees in the following departments: Registration Services, Undergraduate Admissions, Center for Student Services, Financial Aid, Graduate Admissions, Educational Enrichment Center, 1st Year Experience, EOF, International Education, Scholarships, Academic Support, Office of Testing, Center for Creative Aging, and Honors College.

This project is being managed by the Capital Projects Design and Construction Department.  Project information, including floorplans, departmental relocation timelines, and other information can be found at their website (http://www.wpunj.edu/capital-planning/mhrhupdate.dot).
