As president and CEO of The Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties, Kathy Walsh ’81 is a powerful voice for advancing the rights of people with disabilities. A private, not-for-profit organization serving more than one thousand individuals and their families, The Arc offers early intervention, recreation, family support, respite, educational advocacy, adult training, vocational, supported employment and residential services.
Walsh has worked in various positions with The Arc for more than twenty-five years, and has been honored with local, state, and national awards for professional excellence. She has served on numerous boards, task forces, and committees throughout the state including the Bergen County Human Service Advisory Council, where she is on the executive committee, and the County’s Adult Services Committee, of which she is vice chair.
For more than thirty years, Walsh has served as a volunteer at Camp Fatima of New Jersey, a not-for-profit camp for children and adults with disabilities, where she recently completed a term as chair of the board of directors. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Quest Autism Programs. Walsh is a certified social worker and a certified teacher in special education and elementary education.
