7 Reasons to Stay Connected with William Paterson Young Alumni
Young Alumni Summer Bash 2011
Are you a William Paterson alum who graduated within the past ten years? If so, then you are one of William Paterson University’s Young Alumni, an active, vibrant group of alumni. Don’t miss out on the fun. Get involved!
Here are 7 top reasons to stay connected:
1. Make Friends
Attend Young Alumni meetings and events. You are part of an exclusive group of recent graduates who have a lot in common. Make new friends and reconnect with classmates as you relive some of your fondest memories on campus!
2. Meet Our Officers
The Young Alumni Chapter starts off 2012 with a brand new slate of officers – Kevin Haden ’04, President; Robin Franklin ’04, vice president, and Julie Motyaka Clay ’05, secretary. They are full of enthusiasm and a lot of new plans, and they need your help.
3. Influence People
Our Young Alumni Council is comprised of a group of active alumni who plan and run events. As our chapter grows, we hope to provide more programs of interest to young alumni, such as community service projects, and travel opportunities.
4. Enjoy Fun Activities
Staycation is an opportunity to relive your carefree college days, stay overnight on campus, and just have fun. If you missed out on last year’s hit event, then make plans for Staycation 2012 coming up June 22-24. And be sure to mark your calendar for the popular annual Summer Bash which will be held at Headliner (http://theheadliner.com/) in Neptune, N.J. on July 14, 2012.
5. Make Career Connections
Through the Alumni Association, you are connected to a community of thousands of fellow William Paterson graduates. Be sure to visit the alumni website for links to the University’s Career Development Center, news about what’s happening on campus, and other resources you may need.
6. Volunteer Your Time
Young alumni may volunteer their time at regular Alumni Association events, such as Homecoming and Senior Send Off. There’s no better way to meet the full range of alumni and stay connected to your alma mater!
“The best part of attending alumni events is to connect with alumni from a different year. Whether they graduated in 1986 or 2006, you can share stories and relate to each other because you have that one common bond – you both graduated from William Paterson,” says Kevin Hayden ’04, president of the Young Alumni Chapter.
The next meeting of the Young Alumni Chapter will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Allan and Michele Gorab Alumni House, 42 Harmon Place, North Haledon. Contact Sharon Ryan at 973-720-3625 or RyanS3@wpunj.edu for more information.
