Program Information

Athletic Training (B.S.)
Exercise Physiology (B.S.)
Physical Education (B.S.)

The University's athletic training program is one of the early educational programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and the first athletic training program in New Jersey to receive accreditation. Our students perform well on the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Board of Certification Examination, and our graduates are in high demand. Since our program's inception in 1978, at least 80 percent of our graduates are employed in athletic training careers.

Emerging careers in fitness, wellness and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation have increased the need for professionals with expertise in the field of exercise physiology. Our major in exercise physiology prepares students for a broad array of career opportunities in fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, exercise physiology, exercise therapy, and wellness programming. Job settings include corporations, hospitals and clinics. In addition, some professionals develop independent fitness consulting businesses.

The longest-running departmental program, the K-12 physical education teacher certification major, is an NCATE-accredited program. Within it, there are enrichment tracks in driver's education and health education (offered with the public health department).
