Nursing (B.S.)
Known for excellence in nursing education, William Paterson University's bachelor of science (B.S.) in nursing program prepares students for entry level practice as professional nurses in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, and community health organizations. Graduates are well prepared for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), administered by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, to become professional nurses. They also gain a strong foundation for advanced education at the master's and doctoral levels.
Why choose the nursing major at William Paterson University?
- Graduates are well prepared for the entry level practice in the role of professional nurse in every healthcare setting, acute or chronic care, in hospitals, the community, or homes.
- The Nel Boldger, RN Nursing Laboratory, a state-of-the-art simulation laboratory, provides practice with complex events requiring advanced skills and knowledge without a risk to patients.
- Doctorally prepared faculty teach clinical as well as theory courses in nursing.
When you join the University's nursing program, you'll benefit from:
- a low student-faculty ratio in clinical/laboratory nursing courses.
- six semesters of clinical experience beginning sophomore year, obtained through University partnerships with 58 agencies in northern and central New Jersey.
- a superior faculty that views students as partners in learning and values them as practitioners.
- a nursing honors program through the University's Honors College, available to nursing students with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
