The goal of the mathematics endorsement (MAEN) program is to prepare teachers who are already in possession of a teaching certificate to obtain middle school mathematics certification. The program is designed to provide teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to pass middle school level Praxis (the New Jersey certification exam.)
In addition to the University’s admission requirements:
- Cumulative grade point average of no less than 2.75 on 4.00 scale.
- A copy of a teaching certificate (CEAS or Standard License)
- 15 credits of graduate study chosen from the following list of courses.

*Candidates who complete these 5 MAEN courses, have evidence of a course including adolescent psychology, and pass the Middle School Praxis exam will be eligible to be recommended for the middle school mathematics endorsement in New Jersey by William Paterson University.
