This program enables college graduates holding a baccalaureate degree in either a liberal arts or science discipline to obtain teacher certification in Elementary Education (K-5 or K-5 w/ 5-8 subject area endorsement); Dual Licensure (K-5 & Teacher of Students w/ Disabilities); or Subject Field (K-12); and a master of arts in teaching degree (M.A.T.). Following completion of the first 20-36 credits of coursework and practica (depending on certification sought), students enroll in a 10-credit student teaching internship. The traditional internship requires a full semester of supervised work in a public school. Upon completion of the student teaching internship, the student is eligible for teacher certification and may seek employment as a teacher in New Jersey. The student then completes the final 15 credits for the Master of Arts in Teaching degree. 

The program, which requires the completion of 45-61 credits, encompasses the major elements of effective instruction including a repertoire of effective teaching models, successful classroom management practices, strategies for providing differentiated learning experiences to accommodate student diversity, curriculum design and implementation, field experiences embedded into courses, research methods and thesis, and the student teaching internship.
