Graduate Studies and Research

“The university’s distinguished teachers, scholars, and professionals actively challenge students to high levels of intellectual and professional accomplishment and personal growth in preparation for careers, advanced studies, and productive citizenship in an increasingly global economy and technological world.”  (Excerpt from William Paterson University Mission Statement)

Our mission statement guides everything we do.  At William Paterson University, you will find that since our founding in 1855, we have continually promoted our traditional and core values of supporting and encouraging intellectual growth and engagement of our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Our graduate curriculum recognizes and makes the connection between graduate study, research, and the creation of new knowledge.  It takes into account, the needs of students who are part time, full time, adult learners, who want excellence in education.

Our culture and climate reflect our understanding of the professional world and the academic world, and our ability to combine the two. Our programs build on our strong history of being responsive to the workplace and the needs of our students.

Our faculty are scholars and researchers who are teachers, and who engage students in both the theoretical and applied aspects of graduate education, who are able to help students to reach their academic and professional goals.

Our programs are flexible and adaptable and include traditional classrooms; on-line and week end programs, executive and certificate programs; interdisciplinary and career programs; distance and off campus programs and services.

We are committed to ensuring success from the point of inquiry about our graduate programs to admission, enrollment, and graduation.

Join us as you take your next step to your educational and professional goals.
