Educational Opportunity Fund Program

Mission Statement
The William Paterson University of New Jersey (WPUNJ) Educational Opportunity Fund Program (E.O.F) strives to provide an opportunity to obtain a higher education for financially disadvantaged and academically under-prepared New Jersey residents. E.O.F is committed to assisting students who would not be able to enter college and successfully complete their education without special services and financial support. E.O.F endeavors to enhance the intellectual and cultural experience of its students. We motivate them to engage in the pursuit of their own academic excellence and professional development as well as that of others. E.O.F seeks to provide students with the ability for and commitment to lifelong learning. Responsibility for leadership within the program, WPUNJ and the community at large is strongly encouraged in all facets of the program.

Congruent with our institutional mission, E.O.F is committed to diversity and equity. E.O.F actively focuses on expanding opportunities, systems and programs for all of its students, regardless of ethnic background, religion, values, differences, ability or disability. Therefore, E.O.F is committed to access, excellence, diversity and retention in all aspects. E.O.F stresses student participation and input in institutional planning for the purpose of developing them socially, intellectually and psychologically while simultaneously preparing the institution to better serve them.

The WPUNJ E.O.F Program is consistent with the E.O.F statewide mission to provide "access to higher education and support for highly motivated students ...who come from families disadvantaged by low income." It provides services to augment the retention and graduation of its students. It is congruent with the University's Mission Statement and is an extension of its Student Success Plan. It identifies major program components to address specific needs. It is a working document and synchronous to the concept of continuous improvement.
