Center for International Education

What do we do?

The Center The Center for International Education (CIE) is the flagship of global initiatives at William Paterson University (WPU). The CIE is the cornerstone of WPU’s unwavering commitment to international education. In planning and implementing the WPU's international agenda, the CIE develops, coordinates, and supports international interdisciplinary academic and development activities of students, faculty, and staff. Its objectives, therefore, are:

  • To expose students to international experiences such as study abroad, reciprocal exchanges, and internships,
  • To develop and enhance faculty's international expertise,
  • To establish linkages with New Jersey's multiple ethnic communities, and
  • To formulate joint ventures with New Jersey's businesses and industries.
The CIE maintains and supports a wide range of linkages, contacts, and collaborative programs with partner institutions from every corner of the world. Through this worldwide a network of partner institutions, the CIE facilitates student and faculty exchanges. It also serves as a host for visiting international scholars in residence and sponsors a series of lectures and discussions on international topics. The CIE places a strong emphasis on international development activities such as grant writing, training programs, collaborative projects, as well as outreach to the community. The CIE houses the:
  • International Student and Scholar Services,
  • Study Abroad Programs,
  • Fulbright Faculty and Student Program, and
  • International Agreements.
