| LODGING | ||
Lodging is not included in the Symposium registration fee. Locally - The Marriott Residence Inn located at 30 Nevins Road in Wayne, NJ (973.872.7100) is the official Symposium hotel. They are offering rooms to Symposium attendees at a rate of $129 per night (excluding taxes). It is the closest venue to the University. Manhattan - As it is a holiday weekend (Valentines Day and Presidents Day), you may wish to extend your stay into a long New York City weekend. If you wish to stay in Manhattan, you may make your own arrangements at your favorite hotel, or, if you need suggestions, there are several choices listed below (there is no connection between the Symposium and any hotel listed below). An early reservation is suggested as the Citys hotels fill up quickly on holiday weekends. A charter bus will be provided for Symposium attendees. There will be one bus departing from a midtown location at 8 a.m. each morning and one bus returning to a midtown location at the end of the days activities. If you wish to arrive/depart at a different time, or if you miss your connection, regularly scheduled New Jersey Transit buses depart from Port Authority (located at the corner of Eighth Avenue between 40th and 41st Streets). | HOTEL LIST | ||
Literally, there are hundreds of hotels in New York City and those who come often have favorites. However, the choice is intimidating for those who have not visited recently. Listed below are several hotels that are mentioned only as a convenience. They are not recommendations, but a starting place. It is suggested that you phone the hotel directly (the 212 number, as opposed to the toll-free number) and ask for discounts, specials and lowest rates. Often, a rate is not offered unless you specify, for example, "Do you have a discount for four consecutive nights in a non-smoking room over a weekend with two double beds for three people, and I have a AAA card." In any event, as the Sondheim Symposium takes place over a double holiday weekend (Valentines Day and Presidents Day), you are encouraged to book your rooms as soon as possible.
