William Paterson University College of the Arts & Communication

Graduate Degree Programs: M.M. Music Management

Program coordinator: Dr. Stephen Marcone

William Paterson University also offers an M.B.A. in Music Management
through the Christos M. Cotsakos College of Business.

The graduate music management concentration provides advanced education in the areas of music business, music management, entrepreneurship and entertainment law as they pertain to the recording industry. Using our proximity to New York City, we are able to capitalize on our industry connections to offer the highest level of study. Consequently, the graduate student is immersed in the industry's environment while fostering a clear understanding of the role and needs of the individual personnel.

The program offerings have an international scope and are taught by industry leaders as well as full time faculty. The completion of an internship is a crucial aspect of the learning curve. Although there are a variety of positions in an astounding number of fields, the objectives of this program are to introduce you to the multi-faced industry, guide you toward a career path, and offer the best opportunity to succeed.

Please note that the program is designed primarily for students who have not earned an undergraduate degree in the music business field. Those graduates who have received a degree in the field are encouraged to pursue a MBA or a law degree.

An audition is required of those applicants that do not hold an undergraduate degree in music. Please see the audition requirements. The 36 credit curriculum contains a three course core sequence, elective credits, major concentration courses and the Christos M. Cotsakos College of Business co-requisites.
