The Program in Music Honors
The Program in Music Honors is a new track in the series of campus honors programs, and is designed to enhance the existing degree programs in music. Students selected for this program are interested in music in its liberal arts setting, beyond its vocational aspects. Normally students enter the program by recommendation of a professor who has come to know the student's work. They continue on in their chosen music program, but follow the honors track as well.
The track has three components. First is a series of four one-credit seminars. Second is a choice of two courses from those normally taken for the regular music programs, but with an enhanced component. And finally there is a special music honors project completed in the senior year. The project is a significant piece of work that may involve research, writing, oral presentation, composition, performance or some combination of these.
For further information, students are directed to Dr. Jeffrey Kresky, who is the director of the honors track in music.
