The Art Department is constantly growing and changing, to respond to the dynamism of the art world as well as to the needs of industry.
Recently the department has expanded into a new building for the visual arts, the Power Art Center, which offers you new studios and laboratories for photography, painting, printmaking, ceramics, furniture and sculpture. With this new 50,000 square feet of studio space, William Paterson University can offer you the most up-to-date facility in the region.

Ben Shahn Center for the Visual Arts which focus on art history, graphics, animation and foundation courses.
The Ben Shahn Galleries situated in Ben Shahn provide outstanding exhibitions and public lecture series.
The Galleries also house a collection of African and Oceanic arts, an Artists Books collection, and oversee the Sculpture on Campus collection

Fully equipped studios in all concentrations provide the resources necessary for the actualization of a wide range of two and three dimensional art areas.
The department's computer graphics lab is equipped with the most up-to-date hardware and software. The animation and graphic design component is recognized as a leader state and nationwide.
